Searching
To get started, lets focus our attention on the large search bar that extends across the top of the Car Finder. You must enter in a keyword phrase and location to start your search. However, the Car Finder does have optional search filters that are designed to produce more targeted results.
Search Word or Phrase: If looking for a specific make and model, please key this information in now. If you are not looking for a specific vehicle type, we recommend using a generic search phrase such as “truck” or “used car.”
Location: Get started by entered in your location. You can key in a zip code or your city and state. Then, please select a radius to search. You can select 5 miles up to 250 miles and anywhere in between.
Minimum/Maximum Price: Price ranges are also optional, but ideal to narrow down results. Whether you are shopping on a budget or just don’t want to overpay, key in a realistic figure.
Pick Sites: The Car Finder searches thousands of car sites and classified sites for you at once. However, you can pick and choose which sites you want search, such as only Craigslist.org and eBay.com. Please select the appropriate sites from the drop down menu. Do nothing if you want to search ALL sites at once.
Minimum/Maximum Year: Looking for a vehicle in a specific year range, such as 2005 to 2009? If so, key this information in now.
Date Posted: Use the drop down menu to only see listings posted that day, from the last three days, last seven days, and so forth.
Seller Type: Only want to see vehicles for sale by an owner? Select this option from the drop down menu.
Maximum Mileage: Want to avoid too-new vehicles with way low mileage or old clunkers on their last leg? Enter in a maximum mileage to only see vehicles with mileage at or below your preferred figure.
Alerts
Do you want to limit the time you spend searching for new or used vehicles? You can with alerts and automatic searches. The Car Finder will perform automatic searches for you! You can receive the results via email or with an in-program alert.
Note: You must leave the Car Finder open on your computer for this feature to work.
Here is how you can set-up in-program or email alerts:
Step #1: Enter in all required search fields.
Step #2: Check the “Add as Alert” box.
Step #3: Submit your search.
Step #4: Fill out the pop-up box on your screen.
Note: At this time, in-program alerts are activated; keep reading on to setup email alerts.
Step #5: Click the “Alerts” tab on the left-hand side of the page.
Step #6: Enter in your email address.
Step #7: Change the frequency of automatic searches (if you need to).
Step #7: Click to “Apply” your changes.
Reviewing Your Results
After performing a Car Finder search, your search results will appear in a list at the top of the program. To see a car listing in its entirety, click a headline. This is what you will see:
But wait! You got a huge list of vehicles, but what comes next? What are your options?
Delete a Vehicle: The Car Finder will produce hundreds possibly thousands of results. Most car buyers are interested in one car and dealers only need a few. To make comparing quality and price easier, remove vehicles that don’t meet your standards.
To delete one car listing, click the big red X next to the car in question.
To delete multiple car listings at once, click the checkboxes next to the listings you want to delete and select “Delete All Checked.”
Replying: Whether you are a buyer or a dealer, no one wants to buy a car, boat, RV, or motorcycle without asking a few questions or scheduling a showing first. To make quick contact with sellers, use the Car Finder’s built-in reply.
Before doing so, you must customize your email settings. To do this, click the “My Email Settings” tab on the left-hand side of the page. Then, key in your Gmail email address, password, and send a test message to yourself.
As for sending quick email replies, click the “Reply” button on the right-hand side of the screen. Then, type your message and click to send it. Your type message automatically saves for next time, which is great when you are sending an email full of common questions.
The color of each listing with a sent reply changes for notification:
Forwarding: Found a vehicle listing that a friend, family member, or client might like? If so, forward that listing directly to them via the Car Finder. To do this, click the checkbox next to the listing or listings you want to send. Then, click “Forward All Checked.”
Adding Notes: The Car Finder makes it easy to keep your searches organized. Attach detailed notes to any car listing in your search results. For example, copy and paste the answers the seller gives you, make note of when a showing or purchase is supposed to take place, and so forth. To do this, click the “Notes” button on the right-hand side of the program. Type your note and click to save.
