Tips and Tricks: Contacting Sellers to Ensure You Get a Good Deal
If you actively use the Leads Finder to shop, you will find a lot of good deals. The Leads Finder searches thousands of online marketplaces, classified sites, and more. With a good keyword, you are sure to find hundreds (if not thousands of items) that foot the bill. A large selection of products often translates into better deals for the buyer.
***We have also recently released a number of shopping apps on the Android Market. One of those apps is titled Baby Stuff for Sale. Just like the Leads Finder, you search 100s of the best websites online to score the best deals. The same tips and tricks apply for all of our Android apps. Even better? You can tap a sellers phone number to auto-dial them!
So lets say that you use the Leads Finder and you are looking for a swing set for your kids. Why on earth would you pay $1,000 or more for a brand new swing set when you can easily find them for half the price used with the Leads Finder? Lets also say you have done all your searches and have a few swing sets (or whatever you are looking to buy in mind). What comes next? You need to contact the seller. When doing so, keep these points in mind.
Is It Worth the Time?
Obviously if you have a quality swing set for an affordable price, it is worth the time to contact the seller. However, one point you want to keep in mind is how long the ad has been up. Not all sellers return to Craigslist.org and other classified sites when their item has sold. If you are looking at a wooden swing set valued at $800 but priced at $100 from three weeks ago, chances are it has already sold and the seller was too lazy to pull the ad.
How Should You Make Contact?
With the Leads Finder, you do have the option to make use of easy email reply. If the seller has an email address posted, click the “Reply” button on the right-hand side of the Leads Finder. A pop-up will appear and you can just type your message. It is easy to use the Leads Finder’s easy email reply, but don’t use it if the seller is all “Call Me.”
Moreover, if you are lucky enough to come across what you want for free but it is listed as a curb alert, high tail it over to the address and soon as possible. Curb alerts often go with the early bird gets the worm.
Be Polite
In today’s society, we are always on-the-go so much that we rarely have time to be polite. Stop and do it. You are trying to score a great deal; a great deal that at least 10 other people are going to want. Since most sellers do have a choice, they do sometimes tend to play favorites. Would you sell a used car to someone who was rude and downright mean or someone who simply said their please and thank yous?
Avoid Internet Acronyms When Contacting Sellers
Always remember that just because someone was able to post a for sale listing online (like on Craigslist) it doesn’t mean they are familiar with all the latest in internet lingo. You might say LMN (let me know) when scheduling a movie night with friends, but a seller might not have a clue what you mean. Actually type out, “I want to buy the swing set, let me know if it is still available.” When someone can’t understand your emails due to a bunch of shorthand text, they are going to delete it and you miss out on a great deal.
Leave a Method of Contact
If you send a reply via email through the Leads Finder, that individual will have your email address. This is good. However, if you decide to make contact via phone always leave a call back number when leaving a message. Don’t be surprised to get an answering machine either. Even when selling something online, most people still screen their calls (as annoying as it is). Don’t miss out on a good deal because you forgot to leave your name and number.
Don’t (I Repeat) Don’t Turn Into a Crazy Person
As mentioned above, not all sellers will pull an ad from Craigslist (which the Leads Finder searches for you) when an item of their sells. So lets say you leave a phone message saying you want the item. You don’t hear back from the seller within 48 hours, so you leave another message. That is it! No more! Don’t be that crazy person who leaves a bunch of messages or sends a bunch of emails saying “why aren’t you calling me.”
