Being a home based worker myself, I know how stressful it can be to get into the business. There are lots of legitimate work at home jobs and opportunities posted online, but there are many more scams out there. Millions of men and women wish they could work from home. If you are a user who is using some of our programs to accomplish this wish, please keep these important points in mind:
- You should be paid to work; it should not be the other way around.
- You will not get rich overnight; home based workers have to work just as hard as traditional office workers.
- If it sounds too good to be true, it likely is.
- Many frauds like to hire workers right away; a real job should have an over the phone interview or your resume should have at least been reviewed.
- You can do a search online with the word “scam” and the company name or individual looking to hire you. This will pull up warnings from other internet users, should they exist.
- Some frauds will get your social security number or bank account information by using legitimate reasons (must ensure you are legally able to work or want to setup direct deposit). That is why research is advised first.
If you do see a scam work at home job or opportunity through the Leads Finder or the Talent Finder, we cannot be of assistance to you. These programs are search tools only. Your best action is to visit the original website the scam was posted on and it report it there. For example, say you come across an envelope stuffing scam on Craigslist but you found the listing via the Leads Finder. Your best option is to contact the folks at Craigslist or simply flag the listing.
