In our last post, we discussed how scammers aren’t just those who are out to drain your bank accounts. A seller who outright lies about what they have for sale (whether it be not having the actual item or lying about the condition of it) is basically trying to scam you out of your hard earned money. But wait! What should you do if you ever come across one of these situations?
So lets say you need a new car seat for your impending bundle of joy. A parent in the same town states her car seat was a backup and therefore only used about twice. Well… that child must have puked up a storm those two times. What should you do? You met to buy the item; do you still need to fork over the cash? Of course, the decision is yours to make. Here are two options you should consider.
Walk away. Why do you want to buy a piece of junk? You wouldn’t want to, so do not do it. Even if you gave a verbal “I will buy agreement” over the phone, that agreement means nothing if the seller misrepresented the item.
Negotiate. This is the perfect time to score a better deal. With that above mentioned car seat, it shows signs of wear and tear and it needs a good clean. So say the mom was trying to score $50 for that “not-so like new” car seat, offer $15. If you get it, great. If not, oh well.
