In our last helpful buying guide blog post, we talked about protecting yourself from falling victim to a scammer. We tend to view scammers as someone sitting in a computer chair halfway around the world. Yes, these are the most financially dangerous people to be on the lookout for. With that said, keep in mind that a seller who misrepresents their item is just as much of a scammer.
What does this mean? It means that college student trying to sell a used textbook with 25 pages missing is trying to scam you. It means that mom who says her car seat is new but it is covered in baby spit stains is trying to scam you. Anyone who outright lies about what they have for sale online is doing more than lying, they are taking you for a ride.
