When using the Car Finder or Car Finder Pro, you are going to come across multiple cars (possibly even a hundred) that fit your search criteria, as well as your budget. Before agreeing to buy a for sale car (new or used), you should schedule a test drive. But save yourself time and hassle; do these three things before having that test drive:

#1: Verify the Basics Again with the Seller

You might be surprised how much misinformation is sent around the internet. A lot of times, it has to do with a simple typo, but always remember there are some car sellers who would outright lie just to sell a junk car or to make a few extra dollars. So before you waste time and travel money to look at a car, verify the basic information again with the seller. This includes the make, model, year, mileage, price, and color.

#2: Check the Kelley Blue Book Website

On the Kelley Blue Book website, you can get the estimated value of a new or used car. For used cars, you can choose a number of different conditions too (they are in like of excellent, good, and okay). Do an estimated value check on all three conditions. This way if a car isn’t a good as the seller sounds, you can walk away but you also have an accurate value to toss back as a counter offer.

#3: Read Reviews and Look at Recall Information

Nowadays, it seems like we can’t go more than two weeks without hearing about some type of vehicle recall. That is why you should run a quick search on any vehicle you are interested in buying. If the car was recalled at one point, make sure that recalled issue was repaired. While you are searching online, also read a few reviews from current or former car owners. Just make sure you include the year (in addition to the make and model).
